We set out to tackle how we were going to create this alternative reality. Alternative reality can be affordable, especially for a short as it doesn't specifically require special effects, this was just another element that helped form Little Thief. Sci-fi films are very expensive to make if it's to look good and believable. Twilight Zone is a great example of this as well as an inspiration for our film. Conceptually, I think those kinds of films are very powerful and you can open discussion on difficult themes without annihilating the audiences.
I always wanted to make a film set in an alternative reality. I pitched the concept to Anne Ribiere (lead female role) and Tobias Marshall (DOP) who both jumped on board. With Little Thief, I wanted to look at women's rights and the difficulty of relationships.
